George W. ‘Joe’ Gahring Jr., 47, Ephrata native, HVAC tech at Haller Enterprises, Steelers fan

George W. “Joe” Gahring Jr., 47, of Myerstown, formerly of Ephrata, died Thursday, Nov. 5, 2015, at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.

He was the husband of Kelly J. (Long) Peiffer Gahring, with whom he celebrated his eighth anniversary on Nov. 2 at the Twin Kiss. Born in Ephrata on Feb. 14, 1968, he is survived by his parents, Gregory L. and Gladys (Zimmerman) Stauffer of Akron.

He was a 1987 graduate of Warwick High School and completed HVAC training at the Lancaster County Career & Technology Center. Joe was employed as an HVAC technician at Haller Enterprises, Ephrata, and Ressler & Mateer, Lititz. He was a member of Tulpehocken United Church of Christ, Richland, where he participated in the Adult Sunday School, and formerly attended the Ephrata Church of the Nazarene. Joe enjoyed taking Casey and Aurora on weekend adventures, walks with his wife and dog, Lance, and was an avid Steelers and movie star fan.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter: Casey Gahring, of Myerstown; a stepdaughter: Danielle Peiffer, of Myerstown; granddaughter: Aurora Showers; brother: Justin Stauffer, of Ephrata; paternal grandmother: Goldie Stauffer; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his caregiver: Barbara Miller.

Services were held Nov. 10 at Tulpehocken UCC, Richland. Interment was at Grand View Memorial Park, Lebanon.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hartman Center, 5725 Old U.S. Highway 322, Milroy, PA 17063.
