Gertrude E. Habegger, 89, homemaker, attended Akron Mennonite, volunteer quilter

Gertrude E. (Neufeld) Habegger, 89, of Akron, passed away Monday, Jan. 26, 2015, at her residence.
She was born in Eshenhorst, West Prussia, Germany, to the late Helmut and Trude (Franzen) Neufeld, and was the wife of the late Eric Habegger who passed away in 2008.
Gertrude was a member of the Akron Mennonite Church. A homemaker, she was a very dedicated volunteer quilter at the Material Resource Center. She had a special gift of hospitality, was a good listener, visitor, and a friend to all.
She is survived by two sons: Fred E. Habegger of Akron; and Ralph P. Habegger of Reston, Va.; a daughter: Ellen, wife of David Ressler of New Holland; a sister: Else Shirk of Churchtown; two brothers: Helmut Jr., husband of Lila Neufeld, of Lititz; and Hans Peter Neufeld of Akron.
Services were held Jan. 31 at Akron Mennonite Church, with Pastors James S. Amstutz and Michelle Dula officiating. Interment will be private in the Akron Mennonite Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Gertrude’s memory may be made to Akron Mennonite Church, 1311 Diamond St., Akron, PA 17501.
