Grace Martin, active with church
Grace I. Martin, 79, of Ephrata, entered into the presence of her Lord Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011 at her home.
She was born in Brecknock Township to the late Jacob and Mamie (Good) Good, and was the loving wife of retired pastor Roy B. Martin for 57 years.
Grace was a member of the Metzler Mennonite Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years, and enjoyed participating in the Metzler Sewing Circle. She was an inspiration and blessing to many through her encouraging card and letter ministry. She freely shared her faith and love of Jesus Christ with persons she met, was always ready to lend a helping hand and selflessly put other’s needs before her own. Grace enjoyed volunteering once a month at the Ephrata Re-uzit Shop until illness prevented it.
Grace enjoyed traveling with her husband to do bird watching. She also enjoyed quilting, embroidery, flower gardening and spending time with family.
Surviving in addition to her husband are four children: Dale G., husband of Ruth Ann (Bowman) Martin, of Ephrata; Louise G., wife of Aaron R. Weaver, of Denver; Janet G., wife of Galen R. Weaver, of Ephrata; and Arlene G., wife of Roger M. Martin, of Denver; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; six sisters: Miriam, wife of the late Melvin Martin, of Lititz; Marian, wife of Harold Stauffer, of East Earl; Beatrice, wife of James Martin, of Mohnton; Mabel, wife of N. Eugene Martin, of Mohnton; Mary Jane, wife of Clarence Martin, of New Holland; and Lucy, wife of Wilson Strausser, of Bowmansville; four brothers: Jacob, husband of Elaine (Weaver) Good, of Reading; Ralph, husband of Dottie (Eberly) Good, of Bowmansville; Horace, husband of Barbara (Strunk) Good, of Mohnton; and Raymond, husband of Naomi (Weaver) Good, of Bowmansville.
She was preceded in death by an infant brother: Ray Good; a sister-in-law: Grace (Sauder) Good, a brother-in-law: Melvin F. Martin; and a grandson: Joel D. Martin.
A funeral service was held on Nov. 19 at Metzler Mennonite Church, Ephrata, with Pastor Richard Buch officiating. Interment will take place in the adjoining church cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Grace’s memory may be made to Hospice of Lancaster County, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604
Arrangements were made by Stradling Funeral Homes Inc., Akron/Ephrata. Online condolences can be given at stradlingfuneralhome.com.
