Harlan Hoffer, 75, Akron, Kunzler superintendent, woodworker
Harlan E. Hoffer, age 75, of Akron, died Monday afternoon, Jan. 2, 2012 at the Essa Flory Hospice Center, Lancaster.
Born in Jersey Shore, he was the son of the late Mervin E. and Cora Shuman Hoffer and husband of Glenda Haverstick Hoffer, with whom he celebrated 24 years of marriage.
He was a graduate of Jersey Shore High School, Jersey Shore. Harlan was the plant superintendent from 1970 through 1999 (29 years) at Kunzler & Company, Lancaster. Harlan enjoyed spending time at his hunting cabin with his family and friends. He was known for his woodworking skills and had his private pilot license and enjoyed flying. He was a member of the National Benchrest Shooters and the IBS Association (International Benchrest Shooters).
In addition to his wife, at home, he is survived by a daughter: Pamela K. Hoffer, and a son: David E., husband of Candy Hoffer, all of Akron; a stepdaughter: Lisa Mae, wife of Andrew W. Nissly, of Lancaster; step-grandchildren: Todd, husband of Heidi Parsons, of Akron; Cory John Nisly and Lauren Ann Nisly, both of Lancaster; step- great-granddaughters: Kylee, Kierra and Kauri Parsons, of Akron; brothers: Walter, husband of Virginia Hoffer, of Rochester, N.Y.; Mervin, husband of Barbara Hoffer, of Vienna, Va.; and Alan, husband of Vershanda Hoffer, of Mt. Joy; Donnie and Charlene Hoffer; Bruce and Kim Hoffer; Aunt Hazel Gohl; and nieces and nephews.
Strictly private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
