Harold T. Smith, 90, formerly of Ephrata, WWII vet, R.R. Long bricklayer, avid sportsman

Harold T. Smith, 90, of Lancaster, formerly of Millway and Ephrata, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2015, at Lancashire Hall.

He was born in Millway to the late William and Annie (Turner) Smith, Jr., and was the husband of the late Edna Mae (Stauffer) Smith.

He was a member of the Cocalico Sportsmen’s Club and the Cloister Post No. 3376 VFW in Ephrata. Harold loved his grandchildren, hunting, fishing, trap shooting, and was a Civil War enthusiast. He worked as a brick layer for R.R. Long and served in the Phillipines during World War II in the Navy.

Harold is survived by two daughters: Sandy, wife of Dennis Howe, of Ephrata; Dawn, wife of the late Michael Wolfe, of Ephrata; four grandchildren: Wendi, wife of Shawn Miller, of Reamstown; Kelly, wife of Vince Mirack, of Linfield; Sheri Howe of New Rochelle, N.Y.; Michelle, wife of Shawn Nolt, of Ephrata; nine great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Edith Snyder and Helen Erb.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Lancashire Hall.

Services were held Dec. 7 at Stradling Funeral Home, Akron, with Rev. Jim Bongard officiating. Interment took place in the Fairview Cemetery, Annex.
