Helen Mary Phillips, 94, garment maker, ECH volunteer, OMPH member, warm, accepting to all

Helen Mary Phillips, 94, of Ephrata, formerly of Fern Glen, died at Maple Farm in Akron.

She was born in Philadelphia, on June 27, 1922. Helen took her place as one of God’s Angels on Aug. 6, 2016.

Helen worked as a garment maker, and was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union for 30 years. She was a member of Our Mother of Perpetual Help Church in Ephrata. After her retirement Helen volunteered for 15 years at Ephrata Community Hospital.

She was a woman of great strength, love, compassion, caring, and kindness. She was the matriarch of the family, and could always be counted on for her gentleness and wisdom. She was warm and accepting to all, and could raise anyone’s spirits with her wonderful sense of humor.

She will forever be in the hearts of her loving children: Pat Ross (Joseph), John Phillips (Lanee); her adoring grandchildren: Lisa Galati (George), Michael Phillips (Kendra); and her great-grandchildren: Dominic, Vinny, and Janelle.

Services were held Aug. 10 at Our Mother of Perpetual Help Church, Ephrata. Committal and final farewell will take place at the Sacred Heart of Mary Cemetery, 554 Main St., Weston, at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 11.
