Henry Harrison Bitler Jr., 79, Terre Hill native, Army vet, Chevy worker, award-winning woodworker

Henry Harrison Bitler Jr., 79, loving father, grandfather, and brother, entered into rest Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2016, after a long illness.

Born in Terre Hill, he was the son of the late Henry Harrison and Jeanette (McGowan) Bitler.

A United States Army veteran, Henry worked in the automotive industry for many years with Sauder and Star Chevrolet. After retiring, he served as the president of the Terre Hill Alumni Association. He volunteered with the Lancaster and the Lancaster Mennonite Historical Societies, and the Smoketown Airport. He also led the restoration of the Binkley Cemetery in Manor Township. Henry was an avid bowler and an award-winning woodworker.

He is survived by a daughter: Lisa Norotsky, wife of Chris, of Bowmansville; four grandsons: Collin H., Mason W., Owen R., and Ian C. Norotsky; six sisters: Theda Gonzalez; Anna Habecker; Dorothy Messner, wife of Wilmer; Jeanette Risser, wife of Donald; Debra Kohl; and Margaret Bitler; and a long-time companion: Sonya LaGamba.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife: Rosalie (Torres) Bitler; and his daughter: Denise Bitler.

Services were held Feb. 1 at Eckenroth Home for Funerals, Terre Hill, with Pastor Al Hoffman officiating. Interment was in Terre Hill Cemetery.
