James C. Guthrie Jr., 40, Ross Technology worker, football coach, avid Pittsburgh sports fan

James C. Guthrie Jr., 40, of Akron, passed away on Monday, Nov. 12, 2018, at home.

He was born in Uniontown to James C. and Mary Kay (Smith) Guthrie.

James was a machine operator for Ross Technology. Always reliable and trustworthy, he was a wonderful brother and uncle. He enjoyed coaching his nephew’s football team and was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan, especially the Steelers, Pens and Pirates. He loved working on cars with his dad and friends.

In addition to his parents, James is survived by his sister: Lori A. Ritz, and her children, Damien A. Ricks, Isabella Diaz, and Mercedes “Chloe” Ritz; his paternal grandmother: Charlotte Guthrie; and his beloved dog: Oreo.

Services were held Nov. 16 at Stradling Funeral Home, Akron, with Rev. Fr. John J. McLoughlin C.SS.R. as celebrant. Final farewell and commendation will be private at the convenience of the family.
