James R. Moyer, 84, Terre Hill, Korea vet, supervisor volunteer, enjoyed showing pigeons

James R. Moyer, 84, of Terre Hill, passed away Feb. 18, 2015 in his residence.

Born in West Reading, he was the son of the late Russell and Helen (Prutzman) Moyer. He was predeceased by his wife Jean (Williams) Moyer, who died in 1999.

He was a graduate of Hamburg High School. James was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He worked as a quality control supervisor for Allen-Sherman-Hoff Co. until his retirement. James was a member of the Evergreen Country Club; Union Fire Company No. 1, Hamburg; National Pigeon Association, and the Chinese Owl Club. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge. James had an aviary at his home and was very active with showing pigeons.

James is survived by one niece: Dena D. (Moyer), wife of James Weidenhammer Jr., Windsor Twp.; one nephew: Wade A. Moyer, husband of Julie (Stine) Moyer, Perry Township; and two great-nieces: Alyse and Devon.

He was predeceased by a brother: Darryl T. Moyer.

Services were held Feb. 24 at Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Hamburg, with military honors will follow in Schuylkill Memorial Park.
