Joel L. Westerhoff, 66, enjoyed writing, singing, playing guitar, had passion for family, friends
Joel L. Westerhoff, 66, of Ephrata, entered peacefully into rest after a brief illness on Friday, April 14, 2017, at Hershey Medical Center. He was surrounded by his wife and children.
Joel was born Aug. 26, 1950, in Hollywood, Calif..
Joel enjoyed NASCAR and when he wasn’t on his boat, he could be found at the yacht club. (Just kidding!) Everyone who knew Joel understood his passion for his family and friends. He also loved writing, singing, and playing guitar. He will be dearly missed by all, including his beloved cat, Scooter.
He was preceded in death by both of his loving parents and stepfather: Rhoads (Bud), Gloria, and Richard. He was also preceded in death by his brother: Jerry.
Surviving is Cathy, wife of almost 41 years; daughter: Holly Smith, married to Matthew Smith; son: Chris, married to Staci; son: Dylan, partner to Sue Schlottman; his grandchildren: Mackenzie, Cody, Abigail, Paige, Thomas, Taylor, and Matthew, all well-loved by their Pop-Pop. Also surviving is a brother: Jeff, husband of Donna; a step-sister: JoAnn Steffy: and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to drop-in for a celebration of Joel’s life on April 30, from 2 to 6 p.m., at Joel and Cathy’s home, with food and fellowship. Bring a lawn chair.
In lieu of flowers, consider donations to the following: Historical Society of the Cocalico Valley, American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, and/or Penn State Hershey Medical Center. Also consider becoming an organ or blood donor.
