John E. Haldeman, 86, Army vet, dairy farmer, Martin Limestone retiree, enjoyed hunting

John E. Haldeman, 86, of Denver, formerly of Ephrata, passed away on Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at Hospice & Community Care, Mount Joy.

He was born in Manheim to the late Harold G. and Kathryn (Schaeffer) Haldeman, and was the husband of the late Emma L. (Hess) Haldeman, who died in 1996.

He was a member of the Worship Center in Leola. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, and spending winters in Florida.

John served in the U.S. Army, was a dairy farmer, worked for Dutchman Construction for many years, and retired from Martin Limestone.

John is survived by three children: Calvin E., husband of Kenosha (Weaver) Haldeman of Denver; Harold L., husband of Cheryl (Ziemer) Haldeman of Bowmansville; and Tawnya R., wife of Dale Stauffer of Lititz; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and second wife, he was preceded in death by first wife: Florence (Stump) Haldeman who died in 1964; four sisters: Beatrice Lied, Helen Fisher, Mary Haldeman and Arlene Thompson; two brothers: Harold and Ralph Haldeman; and two infant siblings. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, July 28, from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at the Worship Center, 2384 New Holland Pike, Lancaster. Funeral services will follow at 10 a.m., with Pastor Sam Smucker officiating. Interment will take place in the Brickerville Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
