June F. Ibach, 97, IU 13 special ed teacher, avid world traveler, devoted to family

June F. Ibach, 97, of Ephrata passed away Saturday April 15, 2017 at Ephrata Manor.

She was the loving wife of the late Gilbert C. Ibach, and daughter of the late John S. and Esther G. (Dettra) Fair.

June is survived by two daughters: Carole A., wife of George T. (Ted) Maxwell; and Gail C., wife of Jeffrey H. Donahue, all of Ephrata; six grandchildren: Greg (Tracey) Maxwell of Annapolis, Md.; Beth (Mark) Foor of Dillsburg; John Maxwell of Ephrata; Eric (Lauren) Maxwell of Lancaster; Kristen (Jeff) Hartranft of Denver; and Geoff (Karen) Donahue of Parkville, Md.: 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one nephew.

Born in Lebanon, June moved to the Lincoln area of Ephrata when she was five. June worked as a special education teacher for the Lancaster-Lebanon IU 13 for many years, retiring in 1982. A member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, she enjoyed attending services with her family. During her lifetime she was a member of many organizations including Eastern Star, serving as secretary for many years; Soroptimist Club; Friendly Circle; and Denver Women’s Club.

Throughout her life she enjoyed traveling, especially a trip around the world with her husband, paddling an outrigger canoe in Hawaii, cruising the Panama Canal and most recently traveling to Alaska at the age of 90.

Family was the most important part of her life, often spending time with them at the mountains, beside the family pool, and visiting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition, she enjoyed scrapbooking and crafts.

Funeral services were held at Gravenor Home for Funerals, Ephrata, on April 21, with the Rev. Jeffrey Goodman officiating. Interment was at Lincoln Cemetery, Lincoln-Ephrata..

June requested that memorial contributions be made to Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1331 W. Main St., Ephrata, PA 17522.
