L. Ruth Knauer, 98, Stevens UZ Church member, mother of two, enjoyed gardening

L. Ruth Knauer, 98, formerly of Robesonia, passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at United Zion Retirement Community, Lititz.

She was born in New Holland to the late Hoover and Emma G. (Nolt) Martin and was the wife of the late David Y. Knauer, who died in 2004. They shared 56 years of marriage.

She was a member of the Stevens United Zion Church, where she taught Sunday School. She enjoyed reading, gardening, and helping out on the farm.

Ruth is survived by two sons: Ronald L. Knauer of Robesonia; and David E., husband of Anna F. Knauer, of Robesonia; two brothers: I. Homer Martin of Stevens; and J. Wilmer Martin of Ephrata; a granddaughter: Beth A., wife of Brian High; and a brother-in-law: Phares G. Musser.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters: Anna Mae Haldeman, Emma Nolt, and Alberta Musser.

Services were held March 28 at Stevens United Zion Church, Stevens, with Pastors John Leisey and Ken Redcay officiating. Interment took place in the Groffdale Mennonite Brick Church Cemetery.
