Lamar H. Cramer, 79, Vietnam vet, worked for CR Markets, Jason’s Woods volunteer

Lamar H. Cramer, 79, of Ephrata, passed away Friday, Sept. 9, 2016, at the Susquehanna Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center, Columbia, following a short illness.

Born in Lancaster and a lifelong area resident, he was the son of the late Harold J. and Helen M. Labezius Cramer, and the husband of the late Hilda M. Johnson Cramer.

A proud Marine, Lamar had served in the United States Marine Corps, stationed in Camp Lejeune, N.C, from September 1955 until September 1975 as a staff sergeant with Ammunition Tech and Explosive Ordnance Disposal. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He then worked for Goodhart and Sons Inc., from 1978 until 1989; and lastly with CR Friendly Markets from 1989 to 1999, when he retired.

He was a member of the Marine Corps Association, the 3rd Marine Division Assoc., VFW Post No. 5965 in Ephrata, American Legion Post No. 945, Vietnam Veterans Association Post No. 30, Lancaster Military Order of Devil Dogs, and the NRA. Lamar also was a volunteer at Jason’s Woods for more than 10 years.

Lamar is survived by his sister: Elaine Ellen, wife of Hugh Greco, of Panama City Beach, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother: Harold J. Cramer; and a sister: Josetta Cramer.

Services were held Sept. 13 at Groffs Family Funeral and Cremation Services, Lancaster. Interment was at Conestoga Memorial Park. Military Honors were rendered by the Red Rose Veteran Honor Guard and the Marine Corps League.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent in Lamar’s memory to The American Heart Association, 610 Community Way, Lancaster, PA 17603.
