Lewis F. Demler Jr., 73, Vietnam vet, Bookspan IT worker, active at Faith Lutheran

Lewis F. Demler Jr., 73, of Denver, passed away Friday, Aug. 19, 2016, at his residence.

He was born in Lebanon to the late Lewis F. Sr. and Arline Claire (Hertzog) Demler; and was the devoted husband of Debra S. (Sedinger) Demler, with whom he shared 29 years of marriage.

Lewis was an active member of the Faith United Evangelical Lutheran Church, Denver, where he served on the church council and was head of the church IT group. He served 10 years in the U.S. Air Force as a linguist and computer technician during the Vietnam War. He was last employed in information technology as a database administrator for Bookspan, formerly Book-of-the-Month Club, in Mechanicsburg. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, photography, and working with computers. He and his wife enjoyed semi-annual vacations in Montana and visiting Yellowstone National Park.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter: Roberta L. Demler of Columbia; and four siblings: Frederick R., husband of Linda (Kass) Demler, of Washington Crossing; Candace Rakow of Burlingame, Calif.; Cheryl A., wife of Donald Discuillo, of Lebanon; and Thomas, husband of Wynanne (Fortna) Demler, of Lebanon.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son: Nicholas Wayne Demler.

Services were held Aug. 24 at Faith United Evangelical Lutheran Church, Denver, with Pastor Joseph Veres officiating. Interment was in the Mount Lebanon Cemetery, Lebanon.
