Lillian E. Martin, 101, Ephrata hospital nurse’s aide, Grace Point member, singer, traveler

Lillian E. Martin, 101, of Rapho Township, and formerly a longtime Ephrata resident, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2016, at Mount Hope Nazarene Retirement Community, where she resided.

Her husband, the late Ernest W. Martin, passed away December 23, 1966.

Born in Lincoln-Ephrata, Lillian was a daughter of the late Harvey F. and Florence I. (Hufford) Shiffler. She celebrated her 100th birthday on Jan. 15, 2015.

Lillian worked at the Ephrata Community Hospital as a nurse’s aide for 32 years before her retirement in 1984. She was a member of Grace Point Church of the Nazarene where she sang with the choir. Lillian loved to travel, especially across the United States.

She is survived by a son: Dale L. Martin of Narvon; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Also surviving are her sister: Clarese Learch of Akron; and brother, Ralph Shiffler of Lancaster.

In addition to her husband and parents, Lillian was preceded in death by a daughter: Sharon Willenbrock; and a son: Larry D. Martin.

Services were held March 25 at Grace Point Church of the Nazarene, Ephrata, with the Revs. Ken Higginbotham and Rocky Hambrick officiating. She was interred in Lincoln Cemetery, Ephrata.
