Luke M. Eberly, 87, farmer, NH Sales Stables worker, attended Springville Mennonite
Luke M. Eberly, 87, of Ephrata, formerly of Stevens, passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at Fairmount Homes.
He was born Jan. 15, 1930 in East Earl Township, to the late Martin M. and Minnie (Martin) Eberly. He was the husband of the late Elva M. (Zimmerman) Eberly who died Oct. 6, 2016.
He was a member of Springville Mennonite Church, Ephrata. Luke was a farmer, and also worked at New Holland Sales Stables, and was a cattle buyer.
Luke is survived by four children: Carolyn, wife of Isaac Hurst, of Akron; Homer, husband of Etta (Martin) Eberly, of Ephrata; Merle, husband of Sharon (Martin) Eberly, of Narvon; Stephen Eberly of Ephrata; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; four brothers: Martin Jr., husband of Anna (Martin) Eberly; Paul, husband of Esther Mae (Hoover) Eberly; Willis, husband of Myrna (Martin) Eberly; John, husband of Abby (Rhoads) Eberly; two sisters: Elizabeth, wife of John Elam Zimmerman; and Edna, wife of Allen Brubacher; a brother-in-law: Irvin Weaver; and a sister-in-law: Hilda Eberly.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother: Henry Eberly; and three sisters: Anna Eberly, Eva Kurtz, and Esther Weaver.
Services were held April 10 at Springville Mennonite Church, Ephrata, with Bishop Melvin Martin officiating. Interment took place in the adjoining church cemetery. Kindly omit flowers.
