Lydia Jane Martin, 91, attended Meadow Valley Mennonite Church, mother to 17

Lydia Jane Martin, 91, of Ephrata, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 16, 2016, surrounded by family.

She was the loving and faithful wife of Amos H. Martin for the past 36 years; and the late Earl M. Hurst, who passed away April 8, 1972. Born April 26, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Moses W. and Mary Elizabeth (Hursh) Martin.

She was a member of Meadow Valley Mennonite Church, Ephrata.

Lydia Jane is survived by six sons: Leon M., husband of Betty (Martin) Hurst, of Ephrata; Carl M., husband of Louise (Stauffer) Hurst, of Stevens; John M., husband of Arlene (Horning) Hurst, of Lititz; Irvin M., husband of the late Virgie (Burkholder) Hurst, of Ephrata; Lamar M., husband of Velma (Horst) Hurst, of Mohnton; Glen M., husband of Gladys (Martin) Hurst, of Narvon; four daughters: Janice M., wife of Raymond Horning, of Akron; Thelma H., wife of Harold Burkholder, of East Earl; Elaine M., wife of Amos Martin, of Abbeville, S.C.; Rosene M., wife of Jay Hurst, of Denver; three step-sons: Amos K., husband of Mabel (Good) Martin, of New Holland; Earl K., husband of Barbara (Newswenger) Martin, of Lititz; Leon K., husband of Carolyn (Horning) Martin, of New Providence; four step-daughters: Vera Mae, wife of Eugene Groff, of Mohnton; Anna Mary, wife of Lawrence Garman, of Quarryville; Kathryn, wife of Harold Lehman, of Port Royal; Darlene, wife of Nelson Shirk, of Denver; 41 grandchildren; 33 step-grandchildren; 74 great-grandchildren; 101 step-great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; a brother: Thomas H. Martin of Elizabethtown; two sisters: Mary Elizabeth Nolt of Ephrata; Mabel S., wife of Glenn Umberger, of Myerstown; two sisters-in-law: Vera Martin of Lititz, and Anna Mae Martin of Stevens.

In addition to her parents, husband, and daughter-in-law, Lydia Jane was preceded in death by a granddaughter: Kimberly Sue Martin; a great-grandson: Tyler Matthew Burkholder; a great-granddaughter: Grace Nicole Burkholder; a step-granddaughter: Sara E. Martin; and 10 siblings: Joseph H. Martin, Margaret L. Martin, Paul H. Martin, Virginia H. Weaver, John Henry Martin, Sarah Ellen Weaver, Moses H. Martin, Theodore H. Martin, Ruth Naomi Kurtz, and Emma A. Lauver.

Services were held July 20 at Meadow Valley Mennonite Church, Ephrata. Interment followed in the adjacent to the church cemetery. Kindly omit flowers.
