Mary Ellen Swartzentruber, 82, Ephrata, was LPN at Philhaven, enjoyed crafting, growing roses

Mary Ellen Swartzentruber, 82, of Ephrata, passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at Fairmount Homes.

She was born on a farm in Christiana to the late Ephraim and Anna (Smoker) Swartzentruber.

Mary was a member at Gingerich Mennonite Church for many years, grew up at Millwood Mennonite Church and was currently a member at Village Chapel. During her working years she was an LPN at Philhaven. She liked gardening and growing roses, enjoyed various crafts, including quilts and wall hangings.

Mary is survived by two sisters: Sara Ann, wife of Luke Boll of Stevens, and Verna, wife of James Howe of Ephrata; and a brother: Calvin, husband of Katy Sue Swartzentruber of Parkesburg.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers: Earl, Lester and Leo Swartzentruber. Mary showered her love on her 24 nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews. She had a caring heart and was always willing to give a lending hand.

Services were held May 19 at Millwood Mennonite Church, Amish Road, Gap, with Pastor Jeff Horst officiating. Interment took place in the Millwood Mennonite Cemetery.
