Mary Hostetter, 75, nurse

Mary Arlene Hostetter, age 75, of Paradise, formerly of Ephrata, passed away at the Lancaster General Hospital Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011.

She was born in Ephrata, daughter of the late Peter Roy and Susie Good Rutt.

She was a graduate of Ephrata High School, class of 1954, and then the Lancaster General School of Nursing, class of 1957, where she was awarded the Florence Nightingale Award. Mary was a registered nurse, working at Sperry New Holland, Maple Farms Nursing Home, Zerbe Sisters, Berks Visiting Nurses and then as the nursing supervisor at the Mennonite Home of Lancaster. She loved sewing, making crafts, watching the Philadelphia Eagles, Phillies and Penn State. She enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by two children: Stephen A., husband of Dolores Bennett Hostetter, of Paradise, Sharon Ann, wife of Tony Fox of Pine Bluff, N.C.; six grandchildren: Kyle, Erik and Tara Hostetter and Erin, Ashley and Adam Fox; two siblings: Emma, wife of Marlin Keens, of Leola; and Peter Roy Jr., husband of Charlene Rutt, of Wellsboro.

She was preceded in death by a brother: Clyde Hostetter.

A private graveside service will take place at the convenience of the family in the Weaverland Mennonite Cemetery of East Earl.
