Mary Ruth Snader, 96, Shorenson Co. retiree, Meals on Wheels volunteer, enjoyed quilting

Mary Ruth “Tut” (Peachey) Snader of Ephrata, passed away at 96 years young, Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at Ephrata Manor.

She was born on April 30, 1922, to Urie and Nancy (Yoder) Peachey in Belleville.

Tut is survived by her son: Kenneth Snader, husband of Helen (Matthews) Snader. She had four grandchildren: Kiersten (Snader) Bomberger, wife of Randy Bomberger; Brandon Snader; Gavin Snader, husband of Kathy (Kowal) Snader; and Tyson Snader, husband of Lacey (Milhimes) Snader. Her great-grandchildren are: Rebecca (Bomberger) Craig, wife of Sean Craig; Alexander Bomberger; Chadwick Bomberger; and Hudson Snader. She is also survived by a sister: Tressie Martin; and a brother: Chester Peachey.

She was preceded in death by her siblings: Minnie Burkholder, Leona Horst, Warren Peachey, Merle Peachey, Kenneth Peachey, and Clara Hackman.

Tut married her late husband, Denton Snader, in June, 1948. Denton passed away in 2005. They also had a son: Kearney Snader, who passed away in 1968.

The family lived in Ephrata their entire lives in the same home for 67 years. Mary was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity. Before retirement, she worked as a seamstress at Husin Shirt Company, Walter Moyer Company, and retired from Shorenson Company. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, trips to the mountains, going to the beach, and being with her family and friends. She volunteered at Luther Acres and delivered for Meals on Wheels.

Stradling Funeral Home, Akron, hosted the memorial service on May 14, officiated by Pastor Karen Minnich-Sadler. Interment was at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Ephrata.
