Merla I. Lorah, 93, formerly of Reamstown, active in local groups, Cinderella worker

Merla I. Lorah, 93, formerly of Reamstown, died at Garden Spot Village, New Holland, Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2014.

Born in Schoeneck, a daughter of the late Alvin and Edith (Weik) Steely, her husband, Robert E. “Patty” Lorah, died Feb. 9, 1990.

An active member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Congregational Church, she supported missionary work and was a Sunday school teacher. Merla worked for Cinderella Knitting Mills for 29 years and loved flowers, plants, cooking, reading and music. Her memberships included Ephrata Women’s Connection and Friendly Circle.

Surviving are sons: Ronald E. (Romaine Shober) Lorah, Melbourne, Fla.; and Ray L. (Jean) Lorah, West Chester; grandchildren: Nadene Beck, Michael, Scott and Zachary Lorah; six great-grandchildren; and a sister: Helen Hirneisen.

Services were held Dec. 20 at St. Paul’s E. C. Church, Reamstown, with Rev. Kirk R. Marks, officiating. Burial followed in Steinmetz Cemetery, Denver.
