Paul B. Snyder, 82, Ephrata, auctioneer for 62 years at New Holland Sales Stable
Paul B. Snyder, 82, of Ephrata, passed away from ALS Tuesday, June 17, 2014, from at the Ephrata Community Hospital.
He was born in Mt. Airy to the late Frank and Sally (Brubaker) Snyder and was the husband of Verna (Fry) Snyder.
Paul was a member of Mellinger’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was an auctioneer at New Holland Sales Stables for 62 years and Leola Produce Auction for 10 years. As an auctioneer he conducted sales with his father Frank Snyder (Frank and Paul Snyder) and his son Michael (Snyder’s Auction Service). He also helped other auctioneers in sales in the states of Pa., N.J., Calif., Ky. and Va. He specialized in sales of livestock, farm machinery, milk bottles and real estate. Paul was a member of the Ephrata Blue Lodge #665 F. & A.M., Tall Cedars and Rajah Shrine.
In addition to is wife, Paul is survived by a daughter: Christine Remlinger, wife of Merv Hill of Ephrata; a son: Michael, husband of Renea (Harnish) Snyder of Lancaster; three grandchildren: Meagan Sotirokos, Connor and Paige Snyder; a brother: Franklin Snyder of Ephrata; two sisters: Sara Burkholder of Elizabethtown and Nancy Shaffer of Ephrata.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a step brother: Earl Brubaker.
Services were held June 21 at Mellinger’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Stevens, with Rev. Timothy Craven and Rev. Alvin Horning officiating. Interment was in the Mellingers Union Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Paul’s memory may be made to Mellinger’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 80 Gockley Rd., Stevens, PA 17578.
