Richard E. Beach, 82, Ephrata, Army vet,  mine worker, car salesman, was active in church

Richard E. Beach, 82, of Ephrata, passed away Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016, at United Zion Retirement Community.

He was born in Shamokin to the late Kimber and Lydia (Shoop) Beach, and was the husband of Dorothy T. (Dansavage) Beach.

He was an active member of the Grace Fellowship Church, Ephrata, as an usher and deacon. He was active in Awana, benevolence committee, and was a devoted Christian. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954 through 1956.

Richard worked at Bethlehem Steel-Grace Mines in Morgantown as a hoist operator. In his later years, he was a car salesman for Sam Grace, Whitney Cadillac, and Rocky Ridge Auto Sales.

In addition to his wife, Richard is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a daughter: Kimberly Beach; four brothers: Chester, William, Robert and Jack Beach; and three sisters: Margaret Baxley, Betty Smith, and Helen Schickley.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 5, at 11 a.m., at the Grace Fellowship Church, 822 Pointview Ave., Ephrata, with Pastors Jim Hertzler and Frank Rice officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Private interment will take place in the Bergstrasse Lutheran Cemetery.
