Robert E. Fassnacht, 58, Denver, mechanic at Don Martin Garage, loved Mopar and NHRA

Robert Eugene Fassnacht, 58, of Denver, passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2016, at home doing what he loved: working on cars.

He was born in Ephrata to Shirley A. (Fromm) Fassnacht of Denver, and the late Levarn R. Fassnacht, and was the husband of Patty A. (Moyer) Fassnacht, with whom he shared 39 years of marriage.

Robert was a Mopar enthusiast, enjoyed car shows, driving in local demolition derbies, and was an avid fan of John Force and NHRA racing. He also enjoyed fishing, and in his younger years he played Little League baseball. Robert was a 1975 graduate of Cocalico High School. He also took auto mechanics classes at Brownstown Vo-Tech and worked as an auto mechanic for Don Martin Garage in Ephrata.

In addition to his wife and mother, Robert is survived by a son: Bradley S. Fassnacht, at home; and a daughter: Valerie J., wife of Daniel Kulp, of Stevens; two brothers, Clifford Fassnacht of Bellefonte; and W. Scott Fassnacht of New Cumberland; and a sister: Darla, wife of Jamey Kissinger, of Denver.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by maternal grandparents: Francis and Ada Fromm; and a brother: Dennis Fassnacht.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2016, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Roseboro Stradling Funeral Home, 533 Walnut St., Denver. An additional viewing will held on Thursday, March 31, from 9 to 10 a.m., followed by funeral service at 10 a.m., with Pastor Ron Good officiating. Interment will take place in the Steinmetz Cemetery.
