Robert Martin Zimmerman, 77, Ephrata Township native, Martin Limestone retiree, Army tank driver

Robert Martin Zimmerman, 77, of Lititz, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2015, at Luther Acres.

He was born in Ephrata Township to the late Martin S. and Elizabeth Mae (Martin) Zimmerman; and was the husband of Frances P. (Markley) Zimmerman, with whom he shared 49 years of marriage.

Robert was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Congregational Church, Rothsville. He loved his motorcycle and John Deere tractor. Robert retired from Martin Limestone in 2007. Robert served in the U.S. Army as a tank driver.

In addition to his wife, Robert is survived by his five siblings: Ruth M. Ruppert; Shirley, wife of Harry Haldeman; William P., husband of Barbara A. Kilby Zimmerman; Lloyd M., husband of Barbara A. (Deibler) Zimmerman; and Martin L., husband of Mary A. Shuman Zimmerman.

Services were held Oct. 17 at Roseboro Stradling Funeral Home, Denver, with Rev. Dr. Kenneth Miller officiating. Interment took place in the Brickerville Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Robert’s memory to the American Cancer Society-Lancaster County Unit, 314 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17603; or to Wounded Warrior Project, 301 Grant St., Suite 900, Pittsburgh, PA 15219.
