Robert S. Weachter, 95, Lititz, WWII vet, Fuller Co. retiree, enjoyed NASCAR, auctions

Robert S. Weachter, 95, of Lititz, passed away Friday, Oct. 23, 2015, at Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital, after a brief illness.

He was born in Warwick Township to the late Monroe and Elizabeth “Lizzie” (Stark) Weachter and was the husband of the late Mary Louise (Helt) Weachter.

Robert was a member of the Grace Evangelical Congregational Church, Ephrata. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II as a medic at Valley Forge Field Office. During his working years, he had worked at various shoe factories in the area and had last been employed at the Fuller Co., Manheim, where he retired in 1984. Robert enjoyed NASCAR, especially Jimmy Johnson, attending sales auctions, being outdoors, and going to the mountains.

He is survived by a daughter: Kathy, wife of Ralph R. Heiser, of Ephrata; a grandson: Ralph Heiser Jr.; a great-granddaughter: Ella Marlene Heiser; and a sister: Dorothy Enck of Brethren Village.

In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by a sister: Grace Shreiner; and several brothers.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, Oct. 29, at 2 p.m. at the Millport Union Cemetery, Log Cabin Road, Rothsville, with Pastor Jeff Martin officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Red Rose Veterans Honor Guard.
