Roger W. Brubaker, 66, Ephrata Area School District business manager, loved spending time with family

Roger W. Brubaker, 66, of Ephrata, passed into the loving arms of Jesus, surrounded by his wife and daughters, on Monday, Feb. 27, 2017, at Temple University Hospital.

He was the son of the late Ralph and AnnaRuth (Bittner) Brubaker. Roger was born Oct. 8, 1950, in Somerset. He was the husband of Sherry (Walker) Brubaker, with whom he shared 45 years of marriage.

Roger was a graduate of Somerset High School in 1968. After graduating from Robert Morris College in 1972 with a degree in accounting he worked for the auditor general. He then worked as a business manager for many schools throughout the years including IU8, Penn Cambria, Latrobe, Meadville and ended his career in Ephrata. Before retirement he worked for 20 years at Ephrata Area School District. After retirement he held several interim business official positions. During his career, he was an active member of ASBO (Association of School Business Officials) and PASBO (Pennsylvania Association of School Business Officials) and served as president of PASBO in 1989. He also served on the PLIGIT and PICS boards.

Roger’s greatest joy was spending time with his family. His dedication and desire to spoil his family was paramount in his everyday activities.

In addition to his wife, Roger is survived by his daughters: Kristin Levins; Heather, wife of Michael Hoffman; and Stacy, wife of Darren Shenk. He was “Grand Pop” to his seven grandchildren: Blake, Asher, Wyatt, Thaddeus, Clara, Myra and Jeddison. He is also survived by his brother: Robert; two sisters: Barbara and Emma; and many nieces and nephews.

Services were held March 4 at First United Methodist Church, Ephrata, with Pastor Walter Carter officiating.
