Ronald J. Fasnacht, 79, Ephrata, Korea vet, Lukens worker, NLC Fish and Game leader

Ronald “Blackie” J. Fasnacht, 79, of Ephrata, passed away Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015, at Denver Health and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born in Ephrata to the late Elmer and Luella (Ruth) Fasnacht and was the husband of Betty J. (Ludwig) Fasnacht.

He was a member of Cloister Post No. 3376 VFW, Ephrata American Legion Cloister Post No. 429, lifetime member of the Northern Lancaster County Fish and Game, where he held several leadership positions. Ronald went to school in the Ephrata School District, fought in the Korean War as a U.S. Marine and worked as a tester in the metallurgic test lab at Lukens Steel Mill. He enjoyed nature, bluegrass music, hunting, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Ronald is survived by six children: Charles Ludwig of Tucson, Ariz.; Bruce, husband of Jane (Horst) Fasnacht, of Lancaster; Kim Zimmerman of Lancaster; Lisa, wife of Bruce Butler, of Denver; David Fasnacht of Ephrata; Ronald, husband of Deb (Martin) Fasnacht, of Ephrata; 15 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister: Vivian Crowther; and a brother: C. Eugene Fasnacht.

Services were held Dec. 8 at Stradling Funeral Home, Ephrata, with Pastor Jeff Martin officiating. Interment took place in the Millbach Community Cemetery.
