Ruth D. Atkinson, 89, member of the Keystone Central Deaf Senior Citizens, enjoyed crafts

Ruth D. Atkinson, 89, of Camp Hill, formerly of Ephrata, passed away at Holy Spirit Hospital in Camp Hill on June 2, 2018.

Ruth was born in Reading to Eli N. Shirk and Ruth E. (Marshall) Shirk on July 12, 1928.

Preceding Ruth in death were her parents; three brothers: Gilbert, Dale, and Robert Shirk; and her loving husband: Wayne Fowler Atkinson, who died in 1999.

Her daughter: Nancy R. Atkinson of Mechanicsburg, survives her. Also, surviving is one brother: Harrison Shirk of New Holland,; and many nieces and nephews.

Ruth worked for many years in the garment industry in the Ephrata area. She was a long-time member of the Keystone Central Deaf Senior Citizens. She liked doing crafts, knitting, and crocheting.

Friends and family may gather at the Paul L. Gravenor Home for Funerals, 100 W. Main St., Ephrata, on Thursday, June 7, from 7 to 9 p.m. for a time of visitation. Additional visitation will take place on Friday, June 8, from 10 to 11 a.m., with a funeral service at 11 a.m. Interment at Terre Hill Cemetery will follow the funeral service.
