Shirley A. Royer, 81, Ephrata, Cinderella Mill worker, NASCAR fan, enjoyed snowmobiling

Shirley A. Royer, 81, of Ephrata, passed away Sunday, Aug. 2, 2015, at Lancashire Hall.

She was born in Letort to the late Robert and Mary (Heisey) Kilefner, and was the wife of Donald G. Royer, with whom she shared 64 years of marriage.

Shirley had worked as a sewing machine operator at Cinderella Knitting Mill, Denver, as well as a homemaker. She enjoyed going to the cabin in Potter County, snowmobiling, sewing sock monkeys and NASCAR, especially Jeff Gordon.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters: Donna, widow of the Thomas VonNieda, of Ephrata: Dianne, wife of Dennis Leeking, of Lititz; six grandchildren: Heather, Matthew, Robert, David, Josh, and Dan; nine great-grandchildren; a brother: Robert, husband of Jane Kilefner; two sisters: Nancy, wife of David Popple; and Ruth, wife of Carl Stanfil.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters: Jean Doyle and Mary Leibfried.

A viewing will be held Wednesday, Aug. 5, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Stradling Funeral Home, 201 Church Ave., Ephrata. An additional viewing will be held Thursday, Aug. 6, at the funeral home, from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by her funeral service at 11 a.m., with Rev. Jason L. Hoy officiating. Interment will take place in the Memory Gardens Memorial Cemetery.
