Timothy E. Ansel, 71, Army vet, Lock & Key owner, Lancaster City firefighter, collector

Timothy E. Ansel, 71, of Lancaster is walking with the Lord on streets of gold after 13 years as a double amputee fighting multiple sclerosis. Tim passed away on Friday, May 11 at the Lebanon VA Medical Center.

Born in Reamstown, he was a son of the late Warren and Elizabeth (Young) Ansel, and the husband of 48 years to Linda (Musser) Ansel.

Tim was proud to serve in the U.S. Army. He was a locksmith and the founder of Ansel Lock & Key, now operated by his son. He served his community for several years as a former Lancaster City firefighter. Tim enjoyed collecting and had a love for gospel music.

In addition to his wife, Tim is survived by his son: Joel T. Ansel (Kathryn), Lancaster; his daughter: Laura J. Chandler (Shaun), East Petersburg; four grandchildren: Reagan, Sophia, Carolyn, and Lily Ansel; and five siblings: Thomas (Nina) Ansel, Diane Fichthorn, Joanne MacMurray, Terry (Maggie) Ansel, and Ted (Nancy) Ansel.

A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, May 23 at 2 p.m. at Calvary Church, 1051 Landis Valley Road, Lancaster. Visitation will be prior from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church. Tim’s final resting place is in Riverview Cemetery, Lancaster.
