Vera W. Zimmerman, 85, Ephrata Re-Uzit volunteer, had 223 great- and step great-grandchildren
Vera W. Zimmerman, 85, of Stevens, died on Friday, June 13, 2014, at Hospice & Community Care, Mount Joy, as a result of a fall at home. Vera was a great mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed.
She was born in Brecknock Twp. to the late Harvey B. and Lydia B. (Weaver) Eberly and was the wife of the late Eli B. Zimmerman.
Vera was a member of Springville Mennonite Church, Weaverland Conference, Ephrata. She had volunteered at Ephrata Re-Uzit store for many years.
Vera is survived by two sons: Harvey E. (Grace) Martin of Orrstown, Luke E. (Sandra) Martin of Lititz; five daughters: Arlene E. (Lawrence M.) Martin of McClure, Erma E. (Noah Jr.) Weaver of Manheim, Marian E. (Harold) Musser of Lititz, Grace E. (Marvin) Zeiset of Manheim, Anita (Glen E.) Martin of Stevens; a daughter in law: Kaye Martin of Lewistown; three stepsons: Luke Ray (Arlene) Zimmerman of Ephrata, Paul (Judith) Zimmerman of Snover, Mich., Eli (Geraldine) Zimmerman of Omaha, Neb.; four stepdaughters: Lena Mae (Donald) Burkholder of Stevens, Mary Weber of Reinholds, Ruth Ann (Marvin) Weaver of Selinsgrove, Marian (James) Oberholtzer of Ephrata; 37 grandchildren; 88 great-grandchildren; 35 step grandchildren; 135 step great-grandchildren; 28 step great great grandchildren; three brothers: Amos W. Eberly, Mahlon W. Eberly, David M. Eberly; two sisters: Anna (Paul) Horning and Elva (Raymond) Martin.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband: Aaron O. Martin; son: Glenn Martin; two brothers: Levi Eberly, Alvin Eberly; a sister: Ruth Hurst; one grandson; and one great-grandson.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, June 17, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., at Midway Mennonite Reception Center, 210 E. Lexington Rd., Lititz. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at the Springville Mennonite Church, 580 Springville Rd., Ephrata, with Bishop Melvin Martin and Ministers Walter Zimmerman, Wilmer Martin and Walter Martin officiating. Interment will take place in the adjoining church cemetery.
