Virgie G. Hurst, 55, Ephrata, co-owned East End Mart, enjoyed hunting and fishing

Virgie G. Hurst, 55, of Ephrata, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2014 at Hospice & Community Care in Mount Joy.

Virgie was the wife of Irvin M. Hurst, with whom she celebrated 31 years of marriage.

Virgie was a member of Hinkletown Mennonite Church and a 1977 Lancaster Mennonite High School graduate. She worked with her family at the Ephrata East End Mart where she was also co-owner. Virgie loved family time and the outdoors, especially going hunting and fishing in Huntingdon County.

In addition to Irvin, she is survived by three children: Sheldon E. Hurst; Wendell D. Hurst, husband of Allison; and Vanessa K. Hurst, all of Ephrata; three sisters: Rachel, wife of the Rev. Irvin S. Martin Jr. of Mt. Airy, Md.; Rhoda G. Burkholder and Orpha G. Burkholder, both of Ephrata; one brother: Paul G. Burkholder, husband of Sandi, of Ephrata; and a number of nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Virgie was preceded in death by her parents, Edna (Gehman) Burkholder and the Rev. David H. Burkholder.

Services were held Dec. 13 at Hinkletown Mennonite Church, Ephrata, with Rev. Glenn Sauder officiating. Interment followed at the adjoining church cemetery.
