William J. Scanlan, 63, former high school football and basketball player, enjoyed golfing
William J. Scanlan, 63, of Ephrata, passed away Thursday, Aug. 11, 2016, at Hospice and Community Care at Mount Joy.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Helen (née Humphries) Scanlan. He was the long-time companion of Sally Doutt.
Mr. Scanlan was a 1970 graduate of Darby-Colwyn High School, where he was a proud member of the varsity basketball and baseball teams. He enjoyed playing golf and basketball and also watching all sports.
He is survived by his daughters: Christina Browder and Melissa Wilson, of Oklahoma; brothers: Larry (Connie) Scanlan of Havre de Grace, Md.; and Michael Scanlan of Parkside; sisters: Terry (Jeff) Haag of Christiana; and Cindy Scanlan of Akron; six grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Services and burial will be private.
