William L. Smith, 78, Con-O-Lite worker, Germania Band Club band leader, pet lover
William L. Smith, 78, of Manheim, passed away Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017, at home.
He was born in West Earl Township to the late William H. and Arlene (Smith) Smith, and was the husband of the late Elizabeth R. (Pope) Smith.
He was a member of Grace Evangelical Congregational Church, Akron.
William worked for Con-O-Lite Burial Vault Co. He was a member of the Lititz American Legion Post No. 56; a member, steward, and band leader of the Germania Band Club of Manheim. He was a NASCAR fan, especially of the late Dale Earnhardt Sr. William enjoyed gardening, butchering, cooking, baking, and canning. He also loved his dogs and cats.
William is survived by a son: Kevin W., husband of Joann (Kauffman) Smith, of Christiana; a daughter: Robin Smith of Manheim; two stepsons: David N., husband of Terri Lorah; Jeffrey L., husband of Roxanne Martin; 22 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two stepdaughters-in-law: Linda (Power) Lorah, Donna Lorah; a sister: Darlene E., wife of Richard Hufford, of Akron; and a brother-in-law: Kenneth Hufford of Ephrata.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son: Timothy L. Smith; two stepsons: Ricky and Anthony Lorah; and a sister: Jane E. Hufford.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
