Zachary Jay Shellhammer, 16, track and cross country team member at EHS, loved music, movies

Zachary Jay Shellhammer, 16, of Ephrata passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2016.

He was born in Lancaster on April 19, 1999, to Chris and Erica (Sandoe) Shellhammer.

In addition to his parents, Zach is survived by his beloved siblings: Alexis, Caitlin, Cameron, and Grayson, all at home; his paternal grandfather: Barry Shellhammer, companion of Kathy Rill of Ephrata; his maternal grandparents: Jim and Cookie Sandoe of Ephrata; his aunts and uncles: Chris and Megan (Sandoe) Siegl of Spring City; Troy and Steph (Berry) Shellhammer of Ephrata; Jeremy and Holly (Bennett) Shellhammer of North Carolina; and three cousins: Nate and Josh Siegl; and Grant Shellhammer.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother: Karen Shellhammer.

A junior at Ephrata High School, Zach was an exceptional student. He was a member of the National Honor Society. Zach was also an avid runner for both the cross country and track teams at Ephrata. He loved cross country running completing a half marathon trail run last year. He was an amazing brother and loved spending time with his siblings and his friends. He also enjoyed music and movies. Zach was a wonderful person who brought love and smiles to everyone that knew him. He brought his parents, brothers and sisters more happiness than he will ever know. He is deeply missed and will always be remembered.

A celebration of Zach’s life was held April 12 at Grace Point Church of the Nazarene, Ephrata, with Pastor Rocky Hambrick officiating.
