A happy day

Editor,

Ephrata Review,

I am not Irish. But on St. Patrick’s Day, I like becoming Irish for the day.

I even wear the green to New Joy Brethren In Christ Church the Sunday before the holiday. I think it is important to take part in this great saint’s day as part of American history.

I will end with a poem I wrote to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. I call my poem “Emerald Sunrise.”

“Go across the pond to Ireland. See the moon rise over Dublin, see the sun rise on an ancient bay. From an old castle fortress to the Blarney Stone, good luck and gold may fall upon you on this an Irish holiday. From the Kerry Coast to the Dingle Peninsula, a soft wind does blow, with magnificent coastal scenery that only our God could know. There are so many things that make Ireland sparkle, with moon beams dancing across the waters of a crystal bay. May you receive his holy blessings on this St. Patrick’s Day.
