On Aug. 25, Terry and Joyce (Hornberger) Gehman celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at a surprise drop-in party at Greenfield Inn, Lancaster given by their daughters and sons-in-law, Angela and Tom Berkosky, Gilbertsville, and Lisa and Geoffrey Schreibeis, Abingdon, Md. Their grandchildren, Ava and Lucy Berkosky and Chloe and Colin Schreibeis, were also in on the surprise.

The Gehman’s were married at Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity, 167 E. Main St., Ephrata, by Rev. Franklin Patschke and Rev. David Ebersole on Aug. 25, 1968. They first met in 1963 at a dance at the Ephrata Rec Center while Terry was playing in a band. Joyce asked him to dance during one of his breaks and the rest was history.

Terry was born and raised in Ephrata while Joyce was born in Reinholds and moved to Ephrata in her teens. Their parents were Richard and Pauline Gehman and Howard and Pearl Hornberger.

Terry was a professional musician at an early age, graduated from Ephrata High School in 1965, and Lebanon Valley College in 1969 with a BS in music education. He taught 33 years in the Conestoga Valley School District. They also operated a music production company, Anjoli Productions, for 35 years, booking entertainment throughout the North East.

Joyce graduated from Ephrata High School in 1966, graduated from Judy Greenwood Modeling School, and was a professional free-lance model most of her life. She was a stay-at-home mom, and much later in life retired from Salem Evangelical Reformed Church, Hellers, in Leola, as a church secretary.

They love traveling in their RV, having visited all 50 states. They have traveled extensively in Europe on River Cruises, and ocean cruises.
