Golden anniversary for Greathouses

Larry and Ruth Ann (Miller) Greathouse, Lititz, will observe their 50th wedding anniversary this week.

They were married Oct. 7, 1967, at the Ephrata Church of the Nazarene, and Rev. William D. Mowen officiated the ceremony.

For Larry and Ruth Ann, 2017 has been a year of celebrating and adventures. In May, they attended the Gold Wing Pennsylvania Convention, held in State College. They went on a cruise to Bermuda, Nassau, and CocoCay Island in July. They went camping for three days with the Gold Wing Road Riders at the Holiness Campground in Carlisle.

They spent a week in Nashua, N.H., traveling to see friends, and an excursion to visit the top of Mount Washington. They took a trip to Grapevine, Texas, for two weeks to help celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association, and stayed at the Gaylord Trail. Over 3,000 people attended this event –and “Harvey” came too. On the way home from Texas, they stopped at Ark Encounter in Williamstown, Ky. On this motorcycle adventure, they traveled 3,568 safe miles.

A celebration for family and friends was held at the Ephrata Elks on Sept. 23.

Larry was born in Durbin, W.Va., and graduated from Greenbank High School. Working in the physical claims insurance business for over 40 years, he retired from Westfield Insurance Company in 2010.

Ruth Ann was born and raised in Ephrata and graduated from Ephrata High School. She retired from the Lancaster Farming newspaper in 2010 after 20 years in the classified sales department.

Together, they enjoy traveling the United States on their red Gold Wing and seeing the countryside.

Larry and Ruth Ann have been blessed with two children: Damon, married to Deborah (Muzereus) of Gap, with two children: Jack and Marissa; and Brandie, of Ephrata, married to Charles McComsey, with three children: Madison, Keira, and Leila.

Larry and Ruth Ann attend Hosanna Church in Lititz and praise the Lord for sustaining them throughout their married life.
