CHS girls blank Ephrata
The Cocalico girls lacrosse team improved to 2-0 on the season Tuesday afternoon in Ephrata with an easy 13-0 victory over the host Lady Mounts. Kari Longstaff, Haley Mitchell and Brooke North all scored three goals apiece to pace the Lady Eagles in this one. Kayli Lescoe added a pair of tallies while Cortney Gensemer and Avery Longstaff rounded out the scoring for Cocalico. Cocalico opened the 2011 season Friday afternoon at home with a hard-fought 15-11 victory over visiting Lampeter-Strasburg. With the game tied 6-6 at the half, Cocalico outscored the Pioneers 9-5 in the second half to pull out the win. Kari Longstaff and Mitchell both scored four goals each to lead the way for the Lady Eagles. Avery Longstaff and North both added hat tricks while Katelyn Costanza scored the final Cocalico tally. Avery Longstaff added three assists while Kari Longstaff, Costanza and Lescoe also had helpers in the Lady Eagle victory. In goal, Rachel Roseboro had four saves while Allie Stauffer added a pair for Cocalico. Ephrata opened its season Saturday morning at Conestoga Valley where the host Buckskins scored a convincing 18-2 victory over the Lady Mounts. Katie Albright and Rachel Stauffer scored the lone goals for Ephrata, which was outshot, 27-2.
