Hammaker earns All-State nod

Ephrata’s Katie Hammaker (80) makes a save during a game vs. Cocalico this past season. Hammaker was recently named to the All-State First Team in Class AAA.

Ephrata senior field hockey goalkeeper Katie Hammaker was selected to the Pennsylvania High School Field Hockey Coaches Association All-State First Team, it was announced recently.
The four-year starter who recently verbally committed to Brown University, was one of 11 Lancaster-Lebanon League players receiving First or Second Team nominations, or Honorable Mention in Class AAA.
Other First Team members from the L-L League included: Taylor Nolan (Hempfield), Brooke DeBerdine (Penn Manor), Cassie Kline (Penn Manor), Carolyn Sloss (Penn Manor), Allison Schaefer (Penn Manor), and Jamie Martin (Warwick).
Hammaker was a member of the All-State Second Team a year ago. She was recently honored as an L-L Section One First Team All-Star, Academic All-Star, Academic Team member, and was named to the L-L All-League Team.
In 2013, Hammaker helped lead Ephrata to a Section Two championship. This past year, the Lady Mounts moved to Section One where they finished the rebuilding season at 4-10 in league play (5-13 overall).
Hammaker finished with a 2.16 goals-per-game average and made 10 or more saves in nine games this season. She also pitched a pair of shutouts.
