State swim slate revised due to storm
The winter storm that was slated to pummel the eastern part of the State Tuesday put the freeze on several PIAA championship events this week, including the State Swimming Championships scheduled for Bucknell University Wednesday through Saturday.
The PIAA announced on its website Monday that the State Swimming Championships would run on a compressed schedule, and the diving championships would be rescheduled.
Originally, Class AA was slated for Wednesday and Thursday with AAA set for Friday and Saturday. The following is the notice the PIAA released on its website Monday:
“Please be advised that due to the impending inclement weather forecast and the governor’s announcement of a state of emergency which includes travel restrictions, the PIAA Swimming and Diving Championships have been changed and will start on Thursday, March 16 at Bucknell University, Lewisburg.
Swimming will be contested in a timed finals format this week and diving will be hosted next weekend at Bucknell University.
The AA Swimming Championships will be contested at Bucknell University on Thursday and Friday, March 16-17.
The AAA Swimming Championships will be held at Bucknell University, Saturday and Sunday, March 18 & 19.
The AA and AAA Diving Championships have been moved to the following weekend of Saturday and Sunday, March 25 (AA) and March 26 (AAA) at Bucknell University.
Updated schedules and information may be found upon the PIAA website (piaa.org) on the Swimming and Diving page.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation with the weather forecast.”
