Wrestlers compete at Donegal, Dallastown

Both the Ephrata and Cocalico wrestling teams competed in holiday tournaments this past week.

At the Dallastown Holiday Tournament last Thursday, the host team captured five individual titles en route to winning the overall team championship.

Cocalico, which finished fifth overall, crowned a pair of champions as Tedy Wolf claimed the title at 152 pounds while Kam Mueller was the overall winner at 170.

The top six teams included: Dallastown (180 points); Eastern York (146); West Chester Henderson (132); Downingtown West (123); Penn Manor (115); and Cocalico (105).

Ephrata, meanwhile, competed in the Donegal Holiday Tourney this past Friday where the Mounts finished fifth overall in the team standings. Host Donegal captured the team title with 219 points. The rest of the top five included: Red Land (194.5); Elizabethtown (187.5); York Suburban (157); and Ephrata (122.5).

Individually, senior Mike Lammer, who was competing for the first time this season, led the way with a first-place finish at 152 pounds. Other placewinners for Ephrata included: Riley Eidemiller, second place at 126; Cameron Eisenhauer , third at 195; Danny Matos, third at 285; Randy Wintersohl, fourth at 106; Ethan Sipe, fourth at 132; and Chad Lammer, fourth at 138.

Cocalico returns to the mat tonight (Wednesday) for a key Section Two battle at home vs. Garden Spot (7 p.m.). The Eagles also travel to the Hamburg Tournament Saturday morning (8 a.m.). Ephrata will be off until Saturday when the Mounts host Hempfield at 1 p.m.
