The entire town of Denver and vicinity went Eagle hoops crazy in March of 1974, when the Cocalico boys basketball team defeated Exeter 59-52 in front of 6,200 fans at the Harrisburg Farm Show Arena to gain the District Three Championship. In top photo, many residents decorated their homes with all the names of the coaches and players while (bottom) the Borough Of Denver actually renamed some its streets. Mayor Charles Messner also declared it to be “Cocalico Eagles Week.” Cocalico then went on to win their state-opener a few days later, by a convincing score of 88-68 over Catasaqua, to move the Eagles’ season record to a perfect 28-0.
