A Learned Thanksgiving

The students in Mrs. Ann Ginder’s second-grade class at Denver Elementary School have spent time in their social studies curriculum learning about the Pilgrims and Native Americans.

To make the learning more personal, the students on Nov. 22 offered a small reader’s theatre presentation entitled “The First Thanksgiving.”

In addition, they presented Thanksgiving poems, jokes, and songs.

The presentation, which occurred in Mrs. Ginder’s classroom, involved a number of students:

Lain Beckett, Andrew Taylor, Asher Zajac, and Bella Helm, all readers; Matthew Rudy-Funk, date announcer;

Play and characters: Nathan Shirk as John Carver; Eli Barry as Massasoit; Aidan Sola as Squanto; CharLee Weaver as Mistress Bradford; Gabby Weidner as Priscilla Mullins;

Pilgrim chorus members: Alana Weaver, Alanna Stout, Matthew Rudy-Funk; Richie Merkey, Donovan Savilai, Jayden Shimp, and Evelyn Ackerman;

Wampanoag chorus members: Brendan Foote, Mady Kepple, Xavier Baffuto, Sophia George, Blaize Webber, and Ali Weaver.
