The Adamstown Area Library and the Village Haus at Stoudtburg Village are holding the Extra Give event at the Village Haus on Friday, Nov. 18, starting at 3 p.m.

The festivities begin with children’s storytimes and costume characters. At 4 p.m., the Maggie Spike Band will perform and, at 7 p.m., Dee and the Diamonds, featuring Andy, Dee and Pete will perform. The Village Haus is donating ice cream for kids showing up between 3 and 4:30 p.m.

Laptops will be available at the restaurant for those who wish to make a donation.

This event is part of the Extraordinary Give, the largest day of giving in Lancaster County. More than 400 Lancaster County non-profits will be participating in this year’s Extraordinary Give.

For 24 hours, starting midnight between Thursday and Friday, folks are invited to donate to the library through the donation portal at

By raising funds during this event, the library will benefit twofold. Not only will the library receive individuals donations, but its will also receive a percentage of the Extraordinary Give $250,000 central pool. The amount received from this central fund depends on how much we raise from its donors, so the more raised the larger a percentage of the central fund we receive.

In addition, there are seven times during the day where your donation could be stretched by $1,000.

During these times:

* Midnight to 3 a.m.: Clipper Magazine and Midnight Madness;

* 5 a.m. to 8 a.m.: Atlee Hall Rush Hour;

* 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.: Penn Cinema Morning Coffee Break;

* Noon to 2 p.m.: High Companies Lunch Hour;

* 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.: Rhoads Energy Happy Hour;

* 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.: Benchmark Construction Company Primetime Prize

* 10 p.m. to midnight: Lancaster County Solid Waste Management Extraordinary Finale

Donations to the library during the above times could be randomly selected for a special golden ticket. Golden tickets add $1,000 to that donation.

The funds received during the ExtraGive will help the library continue to offer quality programing. This event will also benefit the library “Room to Grow” capital campaign which is raising funds to remodel its future home at the former VFW building, 110 W. Main St. in Adamstown.
