The Bollman Hat Company of Adamstown will join The Headwear Association for the Ninth Annual Headwear for the Homeless campaign in which America’s leading hat companies join forces to donate thousands of hats to homeless shelters and non-profit organizations nationwide.

This year, Bollman will be supplying winter headwear to Mary’s Shelter and to Opportunity House, both located in Reading, Berks County, on Dec. 8 as part of the annual campaign.

Bollman will distribute hundreds of new hats at these locations to provide bit of warmth and comfort to those who are disadvantaged.

Hats will be distributed at Mary’s Shelter, 736 Upland Ave., beginning at 10 a.m., and at Opportunity House, 430 N. Second St., beginning at 11:30 a.m.

The association sponsors the hat giveaway because it recognizes thousands of the underprivileged are left to deal with freezing temperatures. Humans lose up to 80 percent of body heat through their head, according to the organization.

This is the ninth year that THA will be distributing warm hats to thousands of men, women, and children. Bollman has previously given away warm hats and winter headwear to low-income individuals in the Reading area.
