East Cocalico Police Report, December 29, 2016

The East Cocalico Police Department reported the following:

DUI: Stephen Rissell, 26, was involved in a reportable crash in the 800 block of West Swartzville Road, East Cocalico Township, at 12:35 p.m. Dec. 7. Rissell struck the rear of a vehicle, which was stopped in traffic, waiting to make a left turn into a driveway. He displayed signs of impairment and could not perform roadside sobriety testing as instructed. He was arrested for suspicion of DUI. A subsequent blood test revealed he was under the influence of a combination of marijuana and central nervous system stimulants. His license was also suspended at the time of the crash. Charges were filed Dec. 19 and a summons sent by mail.

FIGHT: An officer responded for a disturbance at the Cocalico High School in Denver Borough for two 16-year-old females who had engaged in a fight at 12:30 p.m. Dec. 15. No injuries occurred and both were referred to the Youth Aid Panel.

CRASH: A crash occurred in the 1000 block of North Reading Road, East Cocalico Township, at 7:02 a.m. Dec. 18. A vehicle traveling south crossed the center line into the path of a northbound vehicle, striking it nearly head-on. Both vehicles sustained severe damage and were towed from the scene. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts and said they were uninjured. Reamstown Fire Company assisted on the scene. Impairment is suspected and charges are pending the investigation.

TRESPASSING: Officers responded for a trespass at 1 W. Church St., East Cocalico Township, at 4:10 p.m. Dec. 19. Zachary Thomas, 22, entered an apartment when he had previously been advised by officers not to return. He was charged with defiant trespass.
