The East Cocalico Police Department reported the following:

COMMERCIAL VEHICLE DETAIL: Police conducted a roadside commercial vehicle weigh station/safety inspection detail at Colonel Howard Boulevard and Lesher Road, East Cocalico Township, Nov. 2. A total of 35 vehicles were directed into the detail for closer inspection. Of those, five vehicles and three drivers were deemed an imminent hazard to the motoring public, declared out-of-service and prevented from continuing operation. The most common violations found were unsecured loads, defective brakes and drivers driving beyond legal hours. The department was assisted by officers from the following police departments: Boyertown, Exeter Township, Ephrata, Fleetwood Borough, Pennsylvania State Police, Spring Township, Westtown/East Goshen and West Hempfield Township.

PUBLIC DRUNKENNESS: Officers responded to a domestic disturbance in the first block of West Church Street, East Cocalico Township, at 6:45 p.m. Nov. 3. A 22-year-old male caused a disturbance and was asked to leave. He returned and kicked in a door to the apartment. The male was found outside the building under the influence. Public drunkenness charges will be filed.

CRASH: Officers responded to a crash at Colonel Howard Boulevard and the 222 north off ramp, East Cocalico Township, at 9:06 a.m. Nov. 6. A vehicle was traveling east on Colonel Howard Boulevard and failed to stop at a red traffic signal, striking a vehicle turning left from the northbound exit ramp. It then crossed over the westbound lanes and hit an Army Humvee. The driver of the first vehicle and two occupants of the second vehicle were taken to hospitals for their injuries. Assisting were Reamstown Fire Company and Ambulance, Denver Rescue, Ephrata Ambulance and Medics, Fivepointville Ambulance, Fire Police and the Army Reserve Military Police.

THEFT: Police are investigating a theft of a box trailer from a business in the 2200 block of North Reading Road, Denver. The trailer was reported stolen sometime overnight Nov. 4-5. The trailer is a 2014 Bravo trailer, beige in color and has a PA registration of XHS2262. Total value is approximately $7,000. If anyone has information, contact Officer Steve Walsh or the East Cocalico Township Police at 336-1725.


Ephrata Borough Police Department reported the following:

CRASH: Police responded to a three car accident on Schoeneck Road at Stevens Road in Ephrata Township at 6:53 p.m. Nov. 9. A vehicle driven by Mesa-Rey Alexander, 21, Ephrata, failed to stop at the four-way stop and was hit by another vehicle, which pushed Alexander’s vehicle into a third vehicle. A small child was checked for injuries at the scene and released.

ASSAULT: Police responded to an apartment in the 100 block of East Main Street, Adamstown Borough, at 8:24 p.m. Nov. 9 for a report of domestic violence. Stephanie Kuhn, 40, Adamstown, was taken into custody after police determined she had engaged a male partner in a physical confrontation while armed with a knife in hand. The male was not injured. Kuhn was charged with simple assault and taken to Lancaster County Central Arraignment.

CRASH: Police responded to a vehicle accident in the 1300 block of South Cocalico Road in West Cocalico Township at 6:34 p.m. Nov. 9. A 17-year-old male from Denver, while negotiating a turn, lost control of his Audi on wet leaves and struck an embankment and shrubbery. The driver was not injured and the vehicle was towed from the scene.
